You may remember this beautiful couple from the most recent blog post we shared… They chose a Signature Session for their maternity portraits with both in-studio and beachside photos (see them here). We had their due date booked on the calendar and I was thrilled when they called and said baby boy had arrived! Some clients choose to do an in-home or lifestyle session while others prefer the look of our Thousand Oaks studio. These new parents opted for the latter and we got all the details ironed out for this studio newborn session.
Consistency is Key in Maternity and Newborn Portraits
One of the services we provide here at ABP is creating beautiful, handcrafted artwork to display your portraits. During the image reveal of their maternity portraits, we designed a growing gallery for their walls. We incorporated images from their maternity session and also added placeholders for where newborn images would be added. Since we planned ahead, we knew we wanted to keep some of the imagery consistent so the wall gallery would look cohesive. A part of the newborn session was photographed on black to tie in with the same palette from the maternity session. The creamy whites of the newborn images also pair so perfectly with the same tones in the maternity portraits. When you book with ABP, we make sure that your final product not only looks beautiful but will last a lifetime.
Studio Newborn Sessions are a Family Affair
One thing that made this session so special is that baby’s grandparents tagged along. I always love seeing how much joy grandparents get from watching their child become a parent. It truly is magical. Grandma and Grandpa also joined in for the image reveal, and loved seeing the end result after watching the session unfold. After the session, Dad asked me a question I get pretty regularly… He wondered if I could come by for the night shifts to help with baby boy and get him to sleep like I had done during his session since he never seems to sleep that soundly at home. What I’ve found after years of photographing newborns is that it always seems to go that way – babies that sleep great at home are wide awake for the session and babies that don’t sleep well at home seem to always sleep great for me. Unless they have dietary issues that haven’t been resolved yet and then those babies don’t sleep well for anyone. It’s always nice to have grandparents around to help in those early days!
I cannot wait to see this sweet baby boy grow and help his parents capture the magic of his first year. If you are expecting and due in the spring, reach out now so we can get your due date on the calendar. You deserve beautiful portraits on your walls to document this incredible time!
